On the afternoon of June 1, a devastating accident occurred in Yishun when a car crashed into a covered walkway shelter. The accident tragically resulted in the death of a 74-year-old female passenger and left the 76-year-old male driver in critical condition.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force and local police, the car is believed to have self-skidded, leading to the catastrophic impact with the walkway shelter. Both the driver and the passenger were found unconscious at the scene and were promptly transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Despite the immediate medical response, the 74-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The male driver remains hospitalized, battling injuries sustained in the accident.
