In a move to enhance public transport efficiency during peak hours, SBS Transit (SBST) has announced the launch of three new “short trip” bus services starting May 27. These services, labeled 20A, 39A, and 39B, are designed to cater to the commuting needs of residents in Simei, Changi, Pasir Ris, and Punggol.
Purpose and Operation of the Services
The newly introduced routes are variants of existing services, focusing on specific segments of longer routes that experience higher passenger demand. These short trips are particularly aimed at areas with significant rush-hour traffic, such as those near MRT stations and schools. By concentrating service on these segments, SBST aims to alleviate congestion and provide more frequent buses during critical times.
Service Schedule
The new bus services will operate exclusively during peak periods to maximize efficiency and support those with time-sensitive commuting needs. It’s important to note that these services will not be available on weekends and public holidays, focusing on supporting the weekday rush.
