Overstayed for Nearly 19 Years After Special Pass Expired
Chen was initially granted a special pass on November 2, 2005, allowing her to stay in Singapore temporarily as a prosecution witness. However, when she was due for repatriation on November 23, 2005, she did not report for deportation and instead chose to remain in Singapore for work.
Turned Herself in After 18 Years of Overstaying
Chen evaded immigration authorities for nearly 19 years until she voluntarily turned herself in at Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre on September 24, 2023. Her lengthy overstay violated Singapore’s Immigration Act, leading to her sentencing and fine.
