Singapore Police to Change Emergency SMS Sender ID to ‘70999’
Starting October 1, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) will change its emergency SMS sender ID from “71999” to “70999.” This change is part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to standardize sender IDs across various Home Team departments.
New Sender ID Aims to Improve Recognition and Fight Scams
The change aims to make SMS alerts from the Home Team more easily recognizable and memorable for the public, helping to protect citizens from scammers impersonating law enforcement officers. The Singapore Police Force emphasized that this standardization will enhance public safety by minimizing confusion and preventing fraudulent activities.
