A new Therapeutic Garden has been unveiled in West Coast Park, offering a refreshing space designed for visitors of all ages and abilities. This garden, the 15th of its kind in Singapore, is part of the National Parks Board’s (NParks) initiative to create green spaces that enhance mental and physical well-being through interaction with nature.
Features for All Ages and Abilities
The garden is divided into two key areas to cater to different users:
- Seniors’ Zone: Tailored for elderly visitors, this section includes barrier-free pathways for easy wheelchair access, a sensory path, and a hands-on planting zone. There is also a wheelchair-friendly exercise area, making it an inclusive space for seniors to stay active and engaged.
- Children’s Play Area: This area has been designed with a focus on sensory stimulation and active engagement. It includes a multi-sensory zone, a hands-on planting zone, and interactive features such as a Nature Interactive Experience Zone. There are also relaxation zones where families can unwind.
Inclusive and Accessible Design
The Therapeutic Garden at West Coast Park stands out for its commitment to inclusivity, offering wide pathways and features accessible to both seniors and children with special needs. This garden is part of NParks’ broader plan to establish 30 therapeutic gardens by 2030, with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for diverse communities across Singapore.
This latest addition to the park offers a peaceful, restorative environment, providing a unique space for relaxation and play. It is a must-visit spot for families and individuals looking to connect with nature in a soothing and accessible setting.
