The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that the Sinovac-CoronaVac Covid-19 vaccine will no longer be offered under Singapore’s National Vaccination Programme after September 30.
Lack of Full Registration Application Leads to Phase-Out
According to the MOH, the decision comes as no application has been submitted to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for the full registration of the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine. This vaccine, a traditional non-mRNA type produced using an inactivated virus, will therefore be phased out of the government’s vaccination offerings.
Advisory for Eligible Individuals
MOH is advising those eligible and interested in receiving the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine to do so by the September 30 deadline. After this date, the vaccine will no longer be available under the National Vaccination Programme.
Discontinuation of Production and Limited Availability
The production of the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine has ceased, and the vaccine is no longer commercially available in Singapore. Clinics that have received interim authorization to administer the vaccine can continue to do so only until their existing stock is depleted.
