A 50-year-old woman has been arrested following an attempted armed robbery at a restaurant on Thomson Road.
Attempted Robbery with a Knife
The woman allegedly grabbed a knife from one of the restaurant’s tables and attempted to rob a customer. However, her attempt was thwarted when the restaurant’s staff intervened, forcing her to flee the scene without taking anything.
Swift Police Response
Police quickly responded to the incident and, through inquiries, along with the assistance of police cameras and CCTV footage, were able to identify the suspect. The woman was arrested within nine hours of the attempted robbery, and the knife used in the crime was seized.
Legal Proceedings
The woman is scheduled to be charged on August 30 with attempted armed robbery. If convicted, she could face a prison sentence ranging from two to seven years.
