The annual exercise, known as Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (Seacat), was held from August 12 to August 23. The event aimed to strengthen regional cooperation and improve the ability to respond to maritime security challenges.
Broad Participation from Southeast Asia and Beyond
Participants included representatives from five other Southeast Asian nations—Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam—along with those from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the Maldives, Palau, France, Germany, Britain, and the United States.
Focus on Best Practices and Collaboration
During the shore-based portion of the exercise, experts and participants exchanged best practices and strategies for handling maritime security threats in the region. The collaborative effort underscored the importance of multilateral cooperation in maintaining safety and security in regional waters.
