Singaporean sprinter Marc Brian Louis was forced to withdraw from the first round of the men’s 100m at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, August 3, due to an injury. This unfortunate event occurred after he had successfully progressed through the preliminary round earlier in the day.
Performance in Preliminary Round
During the preliminary heats at Stade de France, Louis finished third, clocking a time of 10.43 seconds, narrowly missing automatic qualification by just 0.01 seconds. Despite this, he advanced to the first round as the fastest non-automatic qualifier.
National Record Holder
Louis holds Singapore’s national record in the 100m, having set a time of 10.27 seconds at the Asian Games last year. His withdrawal is a setback for Team Singapore, as he was one of the promising contenders in track and field events.
