Peter Smith, a 64-year-old British tourist, is currently in intensive care but remains conscious and able to communicate following a severe shark attack near Tobago. The incident occurred on Friday morning when Smith was swimming near the Starfish hotel located in Courland Bay.

Smith was attacked approximately 10 meters off the shore, suffering significant injuries. The shark, identified as a bull shark, inflicted damage to his left arm and leg, delivered puncture wounds to his abdomen, and injured his right hand. The medical team at Scarborough general hospital in Tobago performed surgery to address his injuries and have reported his condition as stable.
Heroic Rescue
During the terrifying ordeal, two of Smith’s friends heroically stayed in the water to fend off the shark, potentially saving his life. Smith’s wife expressed profound gratitude towards these brave individuals for their courageous actions during the attack.
